brand2 croppedKatanning Landcare, the Shire of Katanning, Katanning Action Network, Community Resource Centre, and many other volunteers, businesses, and groups have been working hard preparing another year of amazing workshops and events for Katanning EcoWeek 2016! Once again, running in conjunction with The Hidden Treasures of the Great Southern Bloom Festival, Katanning EcoWeek features events and activities to help people learn about being more environmentally sustainable. With over 25 individual events, there is bound to be something for everyone. For a complete list of events, check out the Katanning EcoWeek Facebook Events Page. The events are also getting slowly added to our website, but there are a lot, and it takes time! 🙂 This year’s two major funders are FRRR – Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal and the Shire of Katanning, but funding alone won’t make an amazing event. We need you! To register for events! To tell your friends! To participate in the competitions! We’re really looking for people and businesses to be a part of:
  • The Katanning EcoFair. Do you do a craft or hobby that reuses old materials, that reduces the impact on the earth, that showcases skills that people are losing? Put together a booth at the Katanning EcoFair. Running in conjunction with the Katanning Farmers Markets, we are looking for businesses and individuals to set up and sell their wares.
  • The Window Display Competition. Businesses, groups, clubs, schools and individuals are all welcome to put up a window display with the ‘GREEN’ theme. If you don’t have a window of your own, contact the Katanning Action Network to get help adopting a window for the festival.
  • The Photography Competition. People of all ages are encouraged to submit their photos, again, with the theme “GREEN”. Top entries will win an amazing prize, and be added to the 2017 EcoWeek Calendar!
  • Together Exhibition. Artists and crafters are invited to submit paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography and craft to explore the different aspects and ideas of “Green”. This is an another top way to feature your skill in a wide range of mediums, and showcase the talents of Katanning artisans.
If you have any questions about these or any other event, or you have ideas for upcoming events, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with one of the Team EcoWeek members: Amy or Zee on 9821 9999; or Jess on 9821 4310; or Andrea on 9821 4327.
