The whole month of July is Plastic Free July! It’s not to late to get involved, so why not give it a go?
Since 2011 more and more people have been getting involved and giving up plastic.
Plastic Free July is the perfect opportunity for schools, businesses and the public to be on board and save the world! During the month of July multiple events are held in Western Australia to promote reducing single use waste as well as education sessions, as well as personal and group challenges!
Plastic Free July is a campaign led by the Plastic Free Foundation, this initiative has spread over 170 country’s with thousands of people pledging to give up contributing plastic waste for the month of July. Absolutely everyone is encouraged to get involved and give it a go. Whether it is pledging to give up all single use waste for one day, week or month everyone is encouraged to get involved and contribute to this global movement.
Plastic Free July participants:
- reduce their household waste on average by 76kg per household per year (7.6%)
- cut their use of recyclables (disposable packaging) on average by 28kg per household per year (5.6%)
- contribute to a total saving of 490 million kg of plastic waste each year
