The Katanning Environmental Nursery is seeking a Nursery Sales and Customer Service person to handle all customer orders, market and promote the nursery and its products, and be part of a team working towards a successful and productive nursery.

Katanning Environmental Nursery (KEN) grows Australian native seedlings for revegetation and retail purposes across southern WA. It is run by Katanning Environmental Inc. a not-for-profit community environmental group. We can currently grow in excess of 1,000,000 stems per year working with more than 150 customers, and are looking to expand our business

This is a casual position of approximately 12-18 hours per week, with some busy periods (July and August) requiring additional hours. This is a family-friendly and flexible role, with work from home options and flexible work hours available once trained, though on-site contact will be required for some periods.  Preference will be given to local candidates.

The role will consist of mostly telephone and email communications with customers, as well as some in-person sales opportunities. You will be responsible for taking orders, providing advice, coordinating bookings for order collections or deliveries and equipment hire. Further tasks include marketing through a range of promotional opportunities, including attending events, and completing invoicing for orders received.

As we are not a retail nursery, the successful candidate must have excellent relationship building and communication skills with a commitment to prompt follow up on customer enquiries through telephone and email.

Essential skills:

  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literacy, particularly MS Excel

Desirable skills:

  • Nursery, plant or horticulture experience
  • Xero or other accounting software experience
  • Canva or other design software tools

Note: There may be the opportunity for up to full-time hours for the right candidate, if additional administrative responsibilities are taken on, however, this would require on-site/contact in Katanning and reduced work from home hours.
