It was an incredibly wintry day on Sunday 21st June, but that didn’t stop our intrepid Friends of Piesse Lake from getting the next phase of planting done. The mound, the embankment and more planting around the Bog/Rain Garden was completed. We hope you enjoy a few photos from the latest busy bee.

The photos really don’t do it justice… Here’s a few photos (on a much more pleasant day) following the most recent busy bee. Things are coming along beautifully. If you can, please head out for a walk along the path and admire the hard work of the Friends of Piesse Lake. 1-20150629_131850 2-20150629_132000 The first Rain Garden was such a success, and such a highlight, that a second Rain Garden will be established adjacent to the current one (note the overturned soil on the left of the photo above). The Rain Garden is so popular, we’ll be putting together a “How to Build Your Own Rain Garden” post in a few week’s time, so you can get one in your own back yard! 3-20150629_132116 4-20150629_132228 5-20150629_132253   And, we are so delighted to show you the benches!

Recognition plaques will be placed on the benches, and an installation date will be announced shortly! In the meantime, if you want to come have a look at one, stop by the Katanning Landcare office and give the seat a test run. The next Friends of Piesse Lake Busy Bee will be on Sunday 12th July from 2-4pm to establish the second Rain Garden and to spread mulch. There will be another Busy Bee on Sunday 26th July to finish up mulching and install one of the benches.
